When I decided to give our guest bedroom a makeover, I wanted to add a touch of glamour to the room, while still keeping it quite classic. I wanted something a bit different to the rest of my house, which has more of a shabby chic/rustic feel to it, so I am really pleased with how this room has turned out. The first thing I did was paint the walls. The theme was always going to be white and grey, to enable me to incorporate my gorgeous bedside tables from Leekes that I already had, so the magnolia walls had to go. I painted the walls in Dulux Pebble shore, which is a lovely soft grey. Bedside Tables Link The next thing I focused on was getting the perfect light fitting. I wanted a low hanging pendant light, which sparkled but was a bit different to a classic chandelier. I found so many beautiful light fittings on the Litecraft website. Here were few of the contenders. After talking to Litecraft about what I wanted, they suggested this new light fitting they had coming soon and it was absolutely perfect. I didn’t want something too big that would take over the whole room but also wanted it to be a feature. It was delivered so fast and it was really easy to assemble and fit. The height was also adjustable, so I could choose the perfect height. Photos really don't do this light fitting justice. It sparkles beautifully and creates a lovely pattern on the walls! It's not available to buy on their website yet but it is available on their Ebay Shop. Light Fitting Link I already had a bed and mattress for this room which I got from Argos, but I really wanted a statement headboard. I came across The Headboard Workshop online as they are really local to me (although they ship nationwide). Their headboards were just what I was looking for. You can choose the size, style, fabric, height and also add finishing touches to them, such as buttons or crystals to really personalise it to you. Their fabric swatches are free to order on their website too. I finally decided to go for the 45” Iona headboard in their House Linen Grey fabric. I wanted something that would match the existing bed and also compliment the few grey velvet items I already had in the room. The headboard was simple to fit and the instructions were easy to follow. You can opt for struts or a wall mounting pack. For the taller headboards like mine, I recommend going for the wall mounted option. Headboard Link I am really happy with the quality of this headboard. It is so heavy and the deep buttoning looks so luxurious. This bedroom just wouldn’t be the same without this headboard and I’m so glad I stumbled across The Headboard Workshop. They are currently offering 5% off all made to order items on their website until the 16th December 2017. All you have to do is select ‘myfirsthomebyclaire’ under the ‘Where did you hear about us’ section when registering on their website and your discount will automatically be applied to your basket when you come to order. They also do beds, chairs, footstools and other accessories. I also needed to add some grey textiles to the room. I already had these curtains from Dunelm that used to be in our kitchen/diner and they went perfectly in this room. I bought all the feather filled cushions from TK Maxx and the beautiful throw from Tesco's new Fox and Ivy range. In keeping with the grey and white theme I added this beautiful white bedding from Lifestylish. I love the cute pom-pom details on it and best of all it irons so easily. Good quality white bedding is so hard to find and I really recommend taking a look at their website as their bedding sets are such good quality for the price. Bedding Link I got the frames next to the headboard from Wilko and popped some black and white photos in. I think they finish off the room well. I very nearly went with some beautiful mirrored frames to match the bevelled mirrors I already have, but I think the white ones tone down the look a touch, as I didn't want it to be over the top glamour.
Ottoman Link The chair in the corner was from Lakeland Furniture but unfortunately it is no longer available. Lamps Link Vase Link I am in love with this room and can’t stop staring at it. I hope you all love it as much as I do! Love Claire x
